CIO HUNT FOR MATHIBELA SHOWS ZANU PF IS NOW AT WAR WITH WAR VETERANS

Zimbabwe is now walking a dangerous path. The Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) is now watching war veterans’ leader Andreas Ethan Mathibela like a hawk. They say he is a “person of security interest.” This means he is no longer free — the state is now after him. His name has been flagged at all immigration posts across the country. If he tries to leave Zimbabwe, he will be arrested. The CIO wants him captured. His crime? Speaking out against President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Mathibela’s troubles began when he stood up and said what many Zimbabweans are thinking. He called Mnangagwa a failure. He said the President has ruined the country and must step down now. This boldness is rare in Zimbabwe, especially from war veterans who used to stand by ZANU PF no matter what. But now, even the war veterans have had enough.

Mathibela is not alone. The ruling ZANU PF party is tearing itself apart from the inside. There is a growing fight between Mnangagwa’s camp and the camp of his deputy, Vice-President Constantino Chiwenga. Both men want to control the party. Both want to lead the country. Their supporters are now divided into angry and dangerous factions.

The pressure is rising. The situation is becoming explosive.

Another war veterans’ leader, Blessed Geza, recently called for a mass uprising to remove Mnangagwa from power on 31 March. His message was loud and clear: Zimbabweans must rise and take back their country. This call shook the political ground, and it added more fuel to an already burning fire. Now many are scared of what might happen next.

For years, war veterans were ZANU PF’s strongest support. They were loyal. They were trusted. They fought for Zimbabwe’s independence and then helped ZANU PF hold power after 1980. But now, these same veterans are turning against Mnangagwa. They are angry. They see the pain Zimbabweans are going through — joblessness, hunger, poverty — and they blame the President.

The government’s move to target Mathibela is proof that Mnangagwa is panicking. When the CIO is used to hunt down critics, it means the regime is no longer confident. Labelling Mathibela a threat to national security is just a way to silence him. It is a warning to anyone else who dares speak the truth. But it also shows fear. Mnangagwa fears losing power. He fears the people he once counted on — the war veterans — are now his biggest problem.

Mathibela’s life is now in danger. The moment he chose to speak up, he became a marked man. But his bravery has inspired many. It has shown that even those who once stood with ZANU PF can now stand up to it. His case is not just about him — it’s about every Zimbabwean who wants a better life and is tired of being afraid.

The division inside ZANU PF is serious. The fight between Mnangagwa and Chiwenga is growing worse each day. It is a power struggle that has nothing to do with the people. While they fight, the economy is collapsing. Children are going hungry. Hospitals have no medicine. Families are barely surviving.

But now, with the war veterans rising, ZANU PF is being exposed from within. These are men and women who once defended the party with their lives. Now, they say Mnangagwa must go. That is a powerful message.

The CIO’s actions against Mathibela show us where Zimbabwe is headed — toward more fear, more arrests, and maybe even more violence. The whole country is watching. The world is watching. Zimbabwe stands at a crossroads.

The people must choose: continue to suffer under a broken system, or rise and demand change. Mathibela’s courage reminds us that the time to choose is now.

  1. The CIO can’t arrest all of us. The fear tactics won’t work forever. Zimbabweans must rise and fight for the country we deserve. This article tells it like it is. The fight in ZANU PF is not about the people, it’s about power. While they fight each other, we suffer. Enough is enough.

  2. Andreas Mathibela is a true hero. It takes real courage to speak truth to power, especially when you know the state will come after you. We need more brave voices like his!If even war veterans are turning against Mnangagwa, then you know the system is rotten. ZANU PF is falling apart, and the people must take this chance to demand real change.
