MNANGAGWA CORNERED AS WAR VETERANS, ZANU PF INSIDERS TURN AGAINST HIM

Zimbabwe is in serious trouble again. The ruling party, Zanu PF, is now fighting itself. President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his Vice President, Constantino Chiwenga, are battling for power, and the fight is getting worse. This internal war is making the country unstable. One man, war veteran Blessed Geza, is adding more fire to the flames. Once a top Zanu PF official, Geza is now one of Mnangagwa’s loudest critics, and he wants the president to step down immediately.

Geza is angry because Mnangagwa wants to stay in power beyond 2028, when his second term ends. Mnangagwa’s team says he just wants to finish his Vision2030 goals, but many Zimbabweans believe he is secretly planning a third term. The Constitution does not allow it, but his supporters are already pushing for it, showing they are acting on his orders. Geza calls this a dictatorship.

Geza has made bold moves. He gave Mnangagwa ten days to resign or face consequences. Though he later denied making threats, he has not backed down. Zanu PF responded by expelling Geza from the party. But that hasn’t stopped him. Many war veterans are still supporting him. They say Mnangagwa is not a real liberation hero. They say he was trained during the war but stayed in Zambia and never fought on the front lines. These war veterans now feel betrayed by him. They say he has ignored their needs, allowed corruption, and destroyed the country’s future.

Even with threats coming from Mnangagwa’s supporters, Geza is not afraid. He says he is not fighting for a faction — he is fighting for all Zimbabweans. But many people are not hopeful. They have seen this before. Mnangagwa made big promises after Mugabe was removed, but nothing changed. Now people fear that even if Chiwenga takes over, it might just be the same kind of leadership with a new face.

Mnangagwa’s past is also haunting him. He was a powerful figure during Mugabe’s brutal rule. He was linked to the Gukurahundi massacres in the 1980s, when thousands were killed in the Midlands and southwest. Even after becoming president in 2017, Mnangagwa continued to rule with an iron fist. His government arrests critics, shuts down protests, and allows corruption to grow.

Geza and his group of war veterans accuse the government of stealing public money, giving jobs only to friends and family, and abusing power. The world is also watching. In 2020, the United States put sanctions on Mnangagwa and his close allies. Britain followed with its own measures. They say the Zimbabwean government is corrupt and abuses human rights.

Today, Mnangagwa is in real danger. The people are tired. The economy is broken. If the army turns against him, he has nothing left to protect him. And even inside Zanu PF, his enemies are growing stronger. The same people who helped him become president are now preparing to remove him.
