ZANU PF POWER FIGHT PUTS ZIMBABWE’S FUTURE IN DANGER

Zimbabwe’s ruling party, ZANU PF, is now in deep trouble. There is a serious fight for power between President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his deputy, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga. Their fight is getting worse, and it could destroy the party from inside. This fight is also very dangerous for Zimbabwe’s future. It brings fear of political problems, violence, and a government that cannot fix the country’s problems.
This is not a new fight. Mnangagwa and Chiwenga worked together in 2017 to remove former president Robert Mugabe. After that, Mnangagwa became the president and Chiwenga became his deputy. But now, they are no longer working together. People close to Chiwenga say that Mnangagwa has failed. They say he broke his promises to fix the economy and bring political reforms. They now see him as a selfish leader who only cares about power and forgets about the poor people of Zimbabwe.
This power fight comes at a time when Zimbabwe is facing many serious problems. These include high inflation, hunger, and a weak currency. Many people are suffering. Prices are going up every day, and most families cannot afford basic goods. But instead of solving these problems, the leaders of ZANU PF are fighting each other. This makes things worse and makes people lose trust in the government.
The Chiwenga group also says that Mnangagwa and his friends are stealing money. They say some leaders have become rich while the country is collapsing. They blame Mnangagwa’s government for poor decisions, lack of transparency, and no accountability. They say a new leader is needed to bring real change.
Mnangagwa denies all these accusations. He says he is fighting corruption and working hard to fix the country. He blames the country’s problems on past leaders and international sanctions. But many Zimbabweans are not convinced.
The fight inside ZANU PF became worse in 2020 when Mnangagwa brought back the District Coordinating Committees (DCCs). These committees were supposed to help the party work better with people at local level. But instead, they became tools for fighting. Chiwenga’s side says Mnangagwa is using the DCCs to gain more control of the party. The elections for these DCCs were full of vote rigging, violence, and threats. This made the divisions inside the party even worse.
Some senior ZANU PF leaders are very worried. They say the party is now at risk. Mike Bimha, the party’s political commissar, has warned against division and called for peace and unity. But it seems many are not listening. The fight between Mnangagwa and Chiwenga is still going on. No one knows how it will end, especially as the party prepares for its next congress in Bulawayo.
This fight is not just a ZANU PF problem. It is a Zimbabwe problem. When leaders fight, they ignore the needs of the people. The fight weakens the government. It causes confusion and stops important policies. This makes life worse for everyone. It also scares away investors and donors who want to help Zimbabwe. Nobody wants to invest in a country with political war.
There is also the risk of violence, especially as elections come closer. Zimbabwe has a history of election violence. If the power fight continues, it could lead to chaos in the streets.
The world is watching Zimbabwe. What happens in this power struggle will affect not only Zimbabwe’s future, but also its relationships with other countries. People want a Zimbabwe that is peaceful, fair, and democratic. But right now, that dream is in danger.
Unless the leaders stop fighting, Zimbabwe’s problems will only get worse.
